Working for the Authority

Details of our current vacancies can be viewed on the NHS Jobs Website, where you can also register to receive email alerts when vacancies are posted.

Most of our employees handle claims against NHS organisations in England and come from an insurance industry or legal background.  We do not employ solicitors to practise as solicitors, but use firms in private practice, which are listed in our annual report.  You can see job descriptions for a case manager handling non-clinical claims and clinical claims to give you an idea of the nature of the work and the entry requirements.

Equality and diversity

The Authority is committed to being an equal opportunities employer and was one of the first public sector bodies to agree and publish a single Equality Scheme, placing equality at the heart of everything we do.  We welcome applications from all sectors of the community, regardless of race, ethnic origin, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation or religious or other belief.

Staff benefits

The Authority offers a range of benefits to its employees, including:

  • Access to the NHS final salary pension scheme, one of the most generous schemes in the UK

  • Counselling service for all employees

  • Interest free season ticket loans
  • A minimum of 27 days of holiday a year for full-time employees and paid bank holidays
  • Paid special leave in a variety of circumstances
  • Flexible working - all employees have the right to request arrangements that help them fit their working lives around their other commitments and interests
