Opportunities for learning and support in 2010/11
Maternity Services
In 2010/11 the NHSLA will continue with its programme of education to support maternity services in meeting the requirements of the revised CNST maternity standards. Workshops aimed at providing practical help and guidance for maternity services in preparing for assessment and achieving compliance with the standards will be held around England in Spring 2010. Sessions will focus on aspects of the standards and assessment process that have proved to be the most challenging for maternity services in 2009/10. The workshops will also provide delegates with the opportunity to discuss queries with assessors and to network with colleagues from other organisations. Every maternity service is invited to send a maximum of two delegates to a workshop and bookings are now being taken.

Acute, Mental Health & Learning Disability and Primary Care Trusts and Independent Sector Providers of NHS Care
In 2010/11 support for acute, mental health & learning disability and primary care trusts and independent sector providers of NHS care will mainly be provided through informal visits which offer practical guidance tailored to the specific requirements of each organisation that is subject to assessment.
To find out more or to book an informal visit, please contact the organisation's assessor.
Additional support visits
All organisations that are assessed by the NHSLA may choose to purchase additional support visits direct from DNV. These visits will focus on learning through facilitation and at no time will the assessor complete the work for the organisation. Nor, will additional support visits guarantee success at assessment.

Third party events and local risk management networks
During 2010/11 members of the NHSLA Risk Management Team and NHSLA team at DNV will be speaking at a number of events organised by others. If you would like to invite a member of either team to speak at an event or meeting which will be attended by at least 25 people from a range of organisations, please email either riskmanagement@nhsla.com or nhsla@dnv.com
E-newsletter
In conjunction with DNV, the NHSLA will shortly be introducing a new E-newsletter in support of its risk management programme. To ensure that your organisation receives a copy of the E-newsletter (which will also be posted on the NHSLA website), it is important that your assessor has been provided with the up to date details of a risk management contact.
